No. You can book a session directly with any therapist or coach on Samya; no referral or prescription is needed.

What should I do if I am in crisis?

How long is a typical consultation and what format does it take?

Session slots on Samya are usually 60 minutes, and each practitioner sets their own. Sessions take place online by audio or video call; each profile shows which formats that practitioner offers.

Can I reschedule or cancel if something urgent comes up?

Cancellations are made through the Samya platform. If you cancel 24 to 48 hours or more before your session, you can get a full refund or reschedule; later cancellations are refunded at our discretion. See our Cancellations & Refunds policy for full details.

That is completely okay. You can request to change your therapist up to three times within any 12-month period from your first booking, or browse Find a Therapist and book someone who feels like a better fit.

What is the difference between a therapist and a coach?

Samya lists both. Therapists offer counselling and psychotherapy to help you process and heal; coaches focus on goals, growth and moving forward with clarity. You can show either on Find a Therapist.

Yes. Your sessions and personal information are kept confidential. Sensitive data such as therapy notes and communication with your therapist is protected with encryption and strict access controls, and is not shared with third parties except with your consent or where the law requires it.

Sensitive personal data, including therapy notes and communication with your therapist, is retained for eight years from your last interaction, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?
